1-3-10-30

1–3–10–30 is an exploratory tool that helps businesses understand their future operating context, identify long-term opportunities, spot potential shocks, build futures competency, and better manage uncertainty in an increasingly uncertain and complex world.

I led the development and design of a unique research tool, which allows complex datasets to be easily understood and explored in the context of future pathways. This navigable representation of future trends and drivers became a starting point to developing a digital tool for Arup.

1–3–10–30 takes a timeline up to 30+ years in the future, mapping pathways based on the IPCC Shared Socioeconomic Pathways 1, 3 and 5 – thriving, sustained or degraded planet. These pathways have a selection of 1700+ tipping points, targets and trends, which can be used to extrapolate future scenarios, helping to frame actions we can take today to take us towards a thriving planet.
