Wales 2050

What if by 2050 Wales could learn to live alongside nature? What if a Water Commissioner ensured rivers and seas had a voice in decision making?

Working with the client (National Infrastructure Welsh Commission) and technical experts at Arup, I led a creative team to deliver a Vision and Futures toolkit to influence the Welsh Government policymaking for future generations. I designed engagements, workshops and led collaborations to bring together diverse voices and weave a narrative synthesising a complex landscape of future trends and drivers and technical expertise.

This project has pioneered an inclusive, imaginative approach to resilience planning, uniting communities, businesses, and policymakers to co-develop solutions that safeguard Wales against future flooding and enable climate resilience. Formed through a series of worldbuilding workshops with over 100 diverse Wales-based stakeholders, our final vision presents a hopeful and unifying narrative of the future, supported by transformational actions to realise these ambitions.

A Vision for a Flood Resilient Wales redefines how societies approach climate resilience and adaptation. By combining technical insight with futures thinking, storytelling, art, and participatory engagement, the project has set a precedent for holistic, inclusive flood resilience planning. This work ensures that Wales is not only prepared for future challenges but also serves as a global leader in adaptive, community-driven climate action.
